Coming in July, a very special Virtual Roadtrip - Summer enrichment continues with noted local musician T.J. Wheeler, who will utilize music, storytelling and song to educate members about the various musical genres from areas visited on a virtual "Road Trip to the South."  From July 14 - August 11, the program will intertwine with SteppingStones regular scheduled groups including music, computer skills, travel group and cooking group and is funded in part by a grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the Eric Johnson Memorial Fund.

Children Visit SteppingStones - On Friday, May 16th, four Fifth Graders from the Mary C Dondero School in Portsmouth, NH visited SteppingStones and received a "powerful learning experience". According to their teacher, Jennifer Dunham, these four boys are often disengaged with learning, but came away from this experience actively brainstorming ways to help. We thank them for visiting and can't wait for the results of their brainstorming.

Our Mission:

To improve the lives of people living with brain injury from trauma, tumor or stroke.

Did you know . . .

It costs just $4,840 a year, or $55 a day, for a brain injury survivor to attend SteppingStones.

  • SteppingStones is a community-based, day program for people living with brain injury from trauma, tumor or stroke. The program emphasizes health and wellness and empowering members toward occupation or meaning after injury. The focus is on who we are as people - spirit, mind and body. Members come to build friendships, receive support, link up with valuable community resources, and explore life interests .
  • SteppingStones keeps its costs down thanks to student interns and community volunteers-- 240 people providing more than 8,600 in-kind hours.
  • Not only does SteppingStones host student interns from the University of New Hampshire each semester -- 40 from its School of Health and Human Services and four from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics -- but for the fourth year it welcomed two 8th grade students from the North Hampton School.
  • New Hampshire State Police troopers have referred 10 young driving offenders to SteppingStones for a community service experience. They learn about SteppingStones' commitment to prevention and education of brain injury in the community in hopes they'll make healthy choices in the future.
  • Gifts of every size make a difference. Make a tax-deductible contribution.
